Dallas Year has the unique opportunity of exposing students to off-campus venues and providing an array of events ranging in style and type. However, in an attempt to go beyond local museums, theaters and aquariums, Dallas Year has formulated "The Spotlight" in order to illuminate gems in the DFW area extending beyond structured activities. From trendy restaurants to charming pubs and unique festivals, the goal of "The Spotlight" is to bring the latest and trendiest to the University of Dallas community. In order to do this, Dallas Year will feature a new DFW gem every other week in the University News as well as on the website including informative facts and driving directions.

For most people, the New Year comes with new ambitious resolutions. Whether they involve studying more, procrastinating less, or losing the last of that "freshmen 15," many resolutions are hard to keep. It is not surprising that, according to USA.gov, the number one New Year's resolution is to lose weight. Though the weight loss industry has made millions with various trends ranging from lap-band procedures to celebrity endorsed diet pills, it is argued that the most effective way to shed pounds is through exercising and eating healthily, and though no one enjoys counting calories, Dallas Year has the perfect sweet treat for you: OrangeCup.

Though new to the DFW community, OrangeCup, an ice cream and yogurt parlor, has become an instant sensation. Known for its all natural yogurt and the nutritional facts stickers that are customized for your dish, OrangeCup has been hailed by many in the Dallas community as superior to the well known Pinkberry. Like Pinkberry, OrangeCup is certified with the Live and Active Culture seal and acknowledged as a heart healthy delight. The popular choice among customers is the natural, 100 percent non-fat yogurt dressed with a mix of "fruity" and "crunchy" toppings; however, OrangeCup provides a selection of specialty yogurt flavors, like acaiberry, packed with antioxidants. Even their blended cups, like tropical slice, with its tasty blend of orange juice, mango, and pineapple, have the added bonus of relieving cold symptoms and providing a memory boost, necessary for those late nights of studying. But whatever you choose, you'll leave feeling satisfied and not the least bit guilty.

So the next time you have the taste for something sweet, indulge in a sweet treat with health benefits.
